JOB DESCRIPTION

Ever wondered what it’s like to work in a park or garden? Want to help make your community greener? Interested in learning more about food justice? As a member of the Green Council, you will gain knowledge in plant science, gardening, environmental and food justice, and get to work with professional gardeners on the High Line. You will also help create new green projects in your neighborhood, like planting a vegetable garden or caring for local trees. If you like working outside and working with your hands as well as learning about horticulture and food justice, this is the position for you!

DUTIES

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must be able to commit to the following 2018 schedule:

Mandatory Orientations: Friday, February 23 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Monday, February 26, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Regular sessions: February 27 - June 29, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Plus occasional Friday evening and Saturday day field trips. Days to be determined.

Spring Break Intensive: April 2 – 6, DAILY 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

During the Spring Break Intensive, Green Council will work outside on the High Line in the mornings and go on site visits in the afternoon

Summer Intensive: July 10 – August 22, 15 hours/week, Tuesday – Thursday, 9:00am-3:00pm

During the summer, Green Council will work 15 hours, 3 days per week caring for a local green spaces and visiting other green spaces.

Candidates who are not available during spring break or summer will not be considered for this position.

This position pays $13 per hour.

High Line Teen Arts & Culture Council (TACC)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Do you like planning special events? Do you love culture, the arts, performances, and community events? Are you interested in the ways that the arts can be used to achieve social justice? Help the High Line create fun events for local teens as a member of the High Line Teen Arts & Culture Council (TACC). As a member of TACC, you will gain experience planning teen nights and knowledge about how the arts can be a vehicle for change. You will have the opportunity to come up with your own ideas for summer events on the High Line and work with other teens in the group to make these events happen on the park. If you like meeting new people and planning events as well as learning about the arts and social justice this position is for you!


DUTIES

Regular sessions: February 28 - June 27, Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Spring Break Intensive: April 2 – 6, DAILY 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

During the Spring Break Intensive, you will work to plans for teen events

Summer Intensive: July 9 – August 22, 12-15 hours/week, Monday – Wednesday, 1:00pm-5:00pm

During the summer, TACC will work 12-15 hours, 3 days per week planning events, visiting other organizations or related field trips, and doing outreach in various neighborhoods and public spaces.

Candidates who are not available during spring break or summer will not be considered for this position.

This position pays $13 per hour.
